Description
The Adelaide Dolphin Sanctuary is part of the Port River Estuary. It is an area of incredible beauty and ecological importance. The sheltered, tree lined creeks of this area are an ideal environment for a kayaking adventure. Whether you are a novice or more experienced paddler of any age this area has so much on offer for you to explore. The old growth mangrove forests of this area are home to a fascinating array of marine life, birds and of course the Port River Dolphins.
Travelling by kayak is a unique way to experience an encounter with the Port River Dolphins or view the wrecks in the Ship's Graveyard Maritime Heritage Trail.
Self guided tours are like hiring a kayak but without all of the hassles of transporting a kayak on your own vehicle. You simply meet us at the launch site where we will have the kayaks ready. We will help you with some friendly advice about safety and the best spots to explore and provide a detailed map of the area. You can then create a unique adventure of your own.
We are the only provider in Adelaide to supply kayaks at the water's edge!

We meet at Garden Island Reserve. This is found at the end of Grand Trunkway, Gillman. Here you will find picnic area, BBQ facilities and public toilets. This location is about 40 minutes from Adelaide GPO and 10 minutes from Port Adelaide. Free pick up from Pt Adelaide VIC on request.
Participant Guidelines
You will need to bring: Clothing suit the temperature of the day, best to dress for a day at the beach! Cover up and be sun smart with a shady hat,sunscreen and insect repellant. Shoes/sandals which may get wet when launching. Drink/snack to take when kayaking. Change of clothes and a towel
We can supply 1,2 or 3 seat kayaks; all are comfortable and stable. Tours have a minimum of 2 persons. Children are aged between 4 - 16.
Tour is weather dependant. Should the weather be unsuitable you may transfer your booking to a subsequent tour or receive a refund (less booking agent fee).

Must be booked at least 1 day before activity.
We can supply 1,2 or 3 seat kayaks which are very stable, comfortable and easy to use. All are fitted with rudders for ease of steering. The latest in high quality buoyancy vests and paddles are also supplied. Minimum 2 people required. Activity usually starts at 9:30am but will depend on the tide on the day. You will find out the starting time after booking
